Training that auditors would pass

Awareness and internal auditor programmes on management system standards — built and delivered by working lead auditors, online or at your site.

Why train with a certification body

Learn the standard from the people who audit it

Most training courses teach what the standard says. Ours teach what auditors actually look for — because our trainers are the auditors.

Every programme is built around real audit situations: how findings are raised, how evidence is collected, which formulations in your documents cause questions and which close them. Participants work with genuine (anonymised) audit checklists, reports and nonconformity records — the same documents used in live certification audits.

Important: to protect impartiality, we never train and certify the same management system content in a way that would compromise independence. Training builds your team's competence; the certification audit remains fully independent.

How a course runs

From theory to a signed audit report in two days

Part 1

The standard, decoded

Clause-by-clause walk-through in plain language: what each requirement means in practice, what evidence demonstrates it, and where companies typically stumble. No slide-reading — every clause is illustrated with a real audit situation.

Part 2

Auditor's toolkit

Planning an internal audit programme, building checklists, interviewing techniques, collecting objective evidence and classifying findings. Participants draft their own checklist for a process from their real workplace.

Part 3

The case audit

The course ends with a full case audit of an anonymised management system: participants raise findings, write nonconformities and defend them — then compare their report with the trainer's benchmark.

Corporate training

On your site, on your processes

For groups of five and more, we bring the course to you — and rebuild the exercises around your own documents.

The trainer studies your quality manual, process maps and previous audit reports in advance, so the examples in class are your examples. The case audit is run on one of your real processes, which means your team finishes the course with a genuine internal audit already half-done.

Corporate groups can combine standards — for example, one integrated course for ISO 9001 + 14001 + 45001 internal auditors — which is the most cost-efficient way to prepare a team for an integrated certification audit.

The case audit

You don't finish the course. You finish an audit.

The final part of every internal auditor course is a complete case audit — and it is where the real learning happens.

Participants receive documentation of an anonymised management system with deliberately planted weaknesses: an outdated procedure here, a missing record there, an objective nobody measures. Working in pairs, they plan the audit, interview the "process owners" (played by the trainer), collect evidence and classify findings.

Then comes the toughest part — writing nonconformities that would survive a dispute: precise, evidence-based, referenced to the standard. Each report is compared against the trainer's benchmark line by line. Participants consistently name this session the most valuable part of the programme.

What you take away

A working toolkit, not a folder of slides

Every participant leaves with a set of documents ready to be used the next working day.

The pack includes editable audit checklists for the standard you trained on, an internal audit programme template, a nonconformity report form and a corrective action tracker — the same structure our own auditors use, adapted for internal use. For online courses, recordings of the theory modules stay available so the team can revisit them before the real audit.

Each participant also receives a personal certificate of completion from IMS INTERNATIONAL stating the standard, the programme and its duration — a document accepted as competence evidence during certification audits.

Formats

Online, on-site or blended — same depth, different logistics

Online

Live sessions with the trainer, split into half-day modules that fit around production. Screen-shared case documents, breakout work in pairs, digital toolkit. Best for distributed teams and refresher courses.

On-site

The trainer comes to your facility and rebuilds exercises around your real processes. The case audit runs on one of your own departments — so the course doubles as a genuine gap assessment.

Blended

Theory online in advance, one intensive practice day on-site. The most time-efficient option for internal auditor teams that already know the basics and need the practical drilling.

Who teaches

Trainers who audited last week

There are no career lecturers in our programmes. Every trainer is an active lead auditor with a current audit schedule.

That changes what the course sounds like. Instead of abstract examples, you hear what happened at a food plant two weeks ago, which formulation in a quality objective triggered a finding, and how a company turned a major nonconformity into a process improvement. Questions get answers from practice, not from the textbook.

Trainer competence is maintained the same way auditor competence is: per scheme, with regular reviews, witnessed sessions and updates whenever a standard edition changes.

Active lead auditors

Every trainer holds a live audit schedule in the scheme they teach.

Scheme-specific competence

Reviewed regularly; materials updated with every standard edition.

FAQ · Training

Before you enrol

Do participants get a certificate?

Yes — every participant who completes the course and the case audit receives a certificate of completion from IMS INTERNATIONAL, stating the standard, programme and duration.

Is prior experience required?

Awareness courses require none. Internal auditor courses assume basic familiarity with the company's processes; knowledge of the standard is built during the course itself.

Can training be spread over several weeks?

Yes. Online delivery can be split into half-day modules to fit around operations — a common choice for production companies that cannot release a full team for two days.

Will training guarantee we pass certification?

No training can guarantee an audit outcome — and any provider promising that should worry you. What training does is build genuine internal competence, which is the single best predictor of a smooth audit.
